Archangel's Light - Nalini Singh returns to the world of the Guild Hunters for the most highly anticipated novel of the beloved series—a love story so epic it’s been half a millennia in the making…
Illium and Aodhan. Aodhan and Illium. For centuries they’ve been inseparable: the best of friends, closer than brothers, companions of the heart. But that was before—before darkness befell Aodhan and shattered him, body, mind, and soul. Now, at long last, Aodhan is healing, but his new-found strength and independence may come at a devastating cost—his relationship with Illium.
As they serve side by side in China, a territory yet marked by the evil of its former archangel, the secret it holds nightmarish beyond imagining, things come to an explosive decision point. Illium and Aodhan must either walk away from the relationship that has defined them—or step forward into a future that promises a bond infinitely precious in the life of an immortal…but that demands a terrifying vulnerability from two badly bruised hearts.
I’ve been waiting for Illium and Aodhan’s love story since Illium first realized what Aodhan really meant to him. NS as usual did not disappoint. Beautiful story, completely true to the characters. Real Guild Hunter fans will love this book!
Love really really Love reading this book I’m been waiting and waiting to read about Aodhan and Illium and the wait was worth it. I like reading about this series a lot. I enjoy reading from the first page to the last.
The love, friendship and journey of these two will forever be one of my favorites ❤️ It gave me goosebumps, Thank you Nalini 🥰
This was so wonderfully written, the details and depth of not only Aodhan and Illium’s friendship and their growth and relationship evolving but their friendship and place in Raphael’s Seven was so great to read and there just wasn’t enough chapters. I’m ready for another book already!
I’ve let this book sink in overnight after reading before writing this review and I think the best way to sum it up is - wholesome. Which doesn’t seem to fit the setting of post-war China after the angel of death left her mark and there are some horrific things left behind. Even so, more than a shocking adventure story it is an extreme slow burn where we learn about the childhood between the two main characters and how the world tried to hurt them. Slight spoilers ahead - I give major props for the lgbtqia+ inclusion of the main characters but do not go into this expecting wild and passionate love scenes (which I admit I did as that’s something that Author Singh does really well). Instead expect a look into their pasts and an almost chaste exploration between two people who have know each other for centuries.
Been counting down the days for this book and it didn’t disappoint. It is awesome!
I’ve followed Nalini for years. Her books are my comfort reads, books that I can disappear into to experience hope, love, spice, and beautiful stories. But this book was a supreme disappointment. Zero burn. Zero chili peppers of spice. And considering that it’s the first and only M/M romance in the series, it almost felt like a betrayal. I finished the book, literally to the last sentence, waiting with my breath held for the “the scene”. How disappointing. This book had been foreshadowed for years and I’m actually emotional that it wasn’t given its due. If you want a (beautiful) but celibate story, this is your book. Nalini is such an amazing writer. But if you had high hopes that this romance would be treated as it deserved, as other relationships in the series had, you’ll be deeply disappointed.
I loved this book so much! It was so beautifully written and such a great way to develop their friendship! I was waiting for this story for a long time and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Please please let there be a next book!!!!
